India Exports Fresh Uttarakhand Litchi to Italy for the First Time

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority has facilitated the first-ever export of fresh litchi from Uttarakhand to Italy, marking the fruit's entry into the European market and opening new opportunities for Indian horticultural exports.

The inaugural shipment highlights the growing global demand for premium Indian fresh produce and reflects APEDA's efforts to expand export destinations for agricultural products. The initiative is expected to enhance market access for litchi growers in Uttarakhand while boosting farmers' incomes through better export opportunities.

The export was carried out after meeting the stringent quality, packaging and phytosanitary standards required by European markets. APEDA worked closely with exporters, state authorities and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with international norms and facilitate the shipment.

The successful consignment is expected to pave the way for increased exports of fresh fruits from India to Europe, strengthening the country's position in global agricultural trade while promoting high-quality produce from Uttarakhand in international markets.
