Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana assumed command as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN), India’s only tri-services unified defense command. The seasoned Army officer succeeded Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan in a ceremonial handover at the strategic island headquarters. The ANC plays a pivotal role in safeguarding India’s maritime interests across the eastern seaboard and Indo-Pacific region.
Lt Gen Rana brings extensive operational experience to the role, having previously served as Chief of Staff at the Army’s Southern Command. His appointment comes amid growing strategic importance of the archipelago in India’s defense architecture.
