The sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train is designed for overnight journeys, combining modern technology with enhanced passenger comfort. The train will feature fully air-conditioned coaches, including AC 3-tier, AC 2-tier and First Class, along with advanced safety systems, automatic doors, improved suspension and bio-vacuum toilets.
Railway officials said the new service aims to significantly reduce travel time on the busy Guwahati–Howrah route while offering a premium alternative to existing long-distance trains. Meals will be included in the fare, with menus reflecting regional cuisines.
The inaugural run is expected later this month, with the Prime Minister likely to flag off the service. Indian Railways plans to introduce more Vande Bharat Sleeper trains on other long-distance routes in the coming months as part of its broader modernisation drive.
